SSG & MAPEH Club launch Battle of the Bands

The Supreme Student Government and MAPEH club conducted the Battle of the bands last July 25, 2009, 4 pm at the Mariveles Sports Complex.

The announcement of the activity was declared by Mr. Daved Salvador, MAPEH Club and SPSII adviser. The officers of the SSG cooperated with the MAPEH Club to accomplish the said event. The proceeds of the program will be added to the funds of the SPS students for their upcoming contests. The masters of the ceremony were Marianne Serrano and King Lee Magday, both from the SSG.

The honorable guest who attended the event was Mr. Quirino Barlis, our school principal and honorable Mel Lopez, our municipal councilor. Mr. Barlis opened the ceremony by a great speech. The judges came from a local band, LAPD. Eighteen bands joined the battle.

From the 18 bands, only four were chosen by the judges. Kimstar won the 1st place, Parokya ni badong was the 2nd placer and Rockstud and Blackshadow tied for the 3rd place. Three thousand pesos was given to the 1st place, two thousand for the 2nd place and one thousand for the 3rd place. Mr. Salvador handed the prizes to the respective winners on July 27, 2009 at the MNHS Poblacion Quadrangle.

MNHS Pob Hits 2nd Mark in Division Mass Singing Competition

After a month-long preparation, Mariveles National High School – Poblacion cops 2nd Place in Division Mass Singing Competition held at Mariveles Sports Complex, Mariveles, Bataan.


The first round of the competition was held last December 10, 2008 bringing MNHS – Poblacion to top 3 against all participating schools in Bataan.

Top 5 schools in the first round of competition matched last December 16, 2008 for the final round which makes the Alma Mater clutch the 2nd Place.

During the final round of competition, MNHS – Pob. added some attraction and spiced up the scene as if they were in a real field.

The triumph was initiated by MAPEH teachers, MNHS – Pob. choir, SSG Officers and was whole-heartedly participated and cooperated by MNHS – Poblacion students.

The tilt was entitled as “Magtanim ay Di Biro” as composed by Jose Tuazon of Balanga, Bataan.

As a compliment, Mrs. Marina M. Barlis, Secondary School Principal II, grant a free Christmas Ball to all those who participated in the competition.

CAT Studes Launch Outreach Program

Mr. Daved Salvador, MAPEH Teacher, led the launching of Citizenship Advancement Training (CAT) Outreach Program as part of their community service at Bayanbayanan of Aetas, Brgy. Upper Biaan, Mariveles, Bataan last December 17, 2008.

The program was successfully arranged through the great participation of 4-Star and 4-a students, together with Mr. Elgin Mancilla, AP Teacher, Mr. Elmer Baracao and Mr. Carlos Magday, TLE Teacher.

CAT students exhibit their talents through breakdancing, comedy skit and singing. They also prepare some snacks for the aeta children.

Though CAT students walk a mile to reach the place, this program touches the heart of everyone, seeing the smile in their lips and hearing those sweet laughter which ease the tiredness of CAT students.

The program was ended by gift giving which was led by Mr. Magday, Mr. Mancilla, Mr. Baracao and other SSG Officers. Mrs. Banal, Biaan School of Aeta teacher, impart their appreciation and gratitude for the program.

Tigers Long Title Drought Ends

After the long waiting for a new title, at last, the Mariveles Tigers pulled away the crown of victory as they crushed finely their opponents being the over – all champion in Bataan Provincial Meet held at Brgy. Kataasan, San Ramon, Dinalupihan, Bataan last November 17 – 19.

The Tigers’ championship title was ripped by five public high schools in Mariveles: MNHS – Poblacion, Annex, Cabcaben, Limay National High School and Lamao National High School.

MNHS – Poblacion players snatched four championship awards: Tigers basketball team coached by Mr. Elgin Mancilla, soccer team of Mr. Daved Salvador and Mr. Wilbert Langreo, table tennis (singles-women’s division) played by Cienah Lyn Badua, coach Mrs. Melanie Cadelino and Taekwondo jins; Lovely Valdez – flyweight, Samson dela Cruz – bantam weight, Michelle Almamento – lightweight, Jonalyn Coperas and Gerald Umang – welterweight which was all trained by Ms. Keithlyn de Asis.

Poblacion’s athletes also garnered multiple awards as follows: Christopher Advincula, 1st Place (800 m and 1000m run), John Rey Almendrez, 2nd Place (3000 m), Jerome Banania, 2nd Place (800 m) also 3rd in 1500 m. The group of Christopher Advincula, Segundino Dawlait, Almie Orongan, Jerome Banania, Richard Dumangas won 2nd Place in 4 x 400 m relay. Also Alvin Catipon copped 2nd Place in badminton (singles) and 3rd Place (mixed doubles) trained by Mrs. Rosemarie Cuevas.

The previously held Provincial Meet aims to develop the relationship between sportsmen and their respected schools and to uplift the sport spirit among the participants.

“I feel satisfied, credit ‘yon ng mga bata at coaches, wala naman silang makukuhang kapalit except sa honor o pagkilala as exchange sa pagsisikap nila… I’m satisfied..pati si ma’am Barlis di n’ya pinanghihinayangan yung gastos… di ko pwedeng angkinin yung credit, syempre sa estudyante at coaches iyon… congratulations to the Tigers’ Team. Keep up the good work.” Mr. Langreo flashes his words.
