PDCC initiates Earthquake Drill

To prepare the students, teachers, workers and administrators of Mariveles National High School- Poblacion, the quarterly Earthquake five minutes-drill which was intertwined by a Fire drill was held at the school quadrangle on September 24.

The said drill was initiated by the Provincial Disaster Coordinating Council as a part of preparing the people in times of unexpected incidents brought by the nature.

Prior to the drill, the admirers of every section were given an orientation on how to guide their students whenever the alarm has started to sound and what will be the next step afterwards.

Moreover, some girl scouts, boy scout, teachers and Students Government Officers were chosen to act some scenes like fire fighting, application of first aids and helping the victims in times of needs.

Meanwhile, the signal has started to sound at 10 o’clock in the morning and lasted for approximately five minutes and the whole drill has lasted for almost an hour.

There was an evaluation right after the said drill and the feedback was positive because according to the evaluators, through the time for the preparation is just limited, there was cooperation among the students and teachers during the actual drill.

“We appreciate the presence and effort of our District Policemen and Firefighters together with the evaluators in working well with us to make this drill a successful event and we will do this regularly not only as a requirement but also as an advance preparation for all of us,” said Mr. Quirino G. Barlis, School Principal as he ended his message during the evaluation.
