Tigers Long Title Drought Ends

After the long waiting for a new title, at last, the Mariveles Tigers pulled away the crown of victory as they crushed finely their opponents being the over – all champion in Bataan Provincial Meet held at Brgy. Kataasan, San Ramon, Dinalupihan, Bataan last November 17 – 19.

The Tigers’ championship title was ripped by five public high schools in Mariveles: MNHS – Poblacion, Annex, Cabcaben, Limay National High School and Lamao National High School.

MNHS – Poblacion players snatched four championship awards: Tigers basketball team coached by Mr. Elgin Mancilla, soccer team of Mr. Daved Salvador and Mr. Wilbert Langreo, table tennis (singles-women’s division) played by Cienah Lyn Badua, coach Mrs. Melanie Cadelino and Taekwondo jins; Lovely Valdez – flyweight, Samson dela Cruz – bantam weight, Michelle Almamento – lightweight, Jonalyn Coperas and Gerald Umang – welterweight which was all trained by Ms. Keithlyn de Asis.

Poblacion’s athletes also garnered multiple awards as follows: Christopher Advincula, 1st Place (800 m and 1000m run), John Rey Almendrez, 2nd Place (3000 m), Jerome Banania, 2nd Place (800 m) also 3rd in 1500 m. The group of Christopher Advincula, Segundino Dawlait, Almie Orongan, Jerome Banania, Richard Dumangas won 2nd Place in 4 x 400 m relay. Also Alvin Catipon copped 2nd Place in badminton (singles) and 3rd Place (mixed doubles) trained by Mrs. Rosemarie Cuevas.

The previously held Provincial Meet aims to develop the relationship between sportsmen and their respected schools and to uplift the sport spirit among the participants.

“I feel satisfied, credit ‘yon ng mga bata at coaches, wala naman silang makukuhang kapalit except sa honor o pagkilala as exchange sa pagsisikap nila… I’m satisfied..pati si ma’am Barlis di n’ya pinanghihinayangan yung gastos… di ko pwedeng angkinin yung credit, syempre sa estudyante at coaches iyon… congratulations to the Tigers’ Team. Keep up the good work.” Mr. Langreo flashes his words.
