Nutrition Month Beefed Up

July 2011 opened Mariveles National High School – Poblacion’s annual month-long celebration of the nutrition month with this year’s theme “Isulong ang Breastfeeding, Tama, Sapat at Ekslusibo”


As done yearly, the TLE Department once again launched various competitions participated by students from different year levels.

Each contestant showed their full potentials to win a place in every contest that even amazed not only the coordinators, but also the whole school.

MNHS-Poblacion Tilts STEP Championship

Mariveles National High School-Poblacion has copped once again the championship trophy this year in the previously held Division STEP Competition last October 1-2 in Samal National High School. After garnering a total of 94.5 points with five 1st places, five 2nd places,two 3rd places and one 4th place, our school has prevailed among the other schools in the whole Division of Bataan.

In lined with the Go Negosyo Campaign, the 4th Youth Entrepreneurship and Cooperative in Schools (YECS) Entrepreneurship Training and Conference was clutched last July 26-31, 2009 at Teacher’s Camp, Baguio City and was delegated by different YECS and STEP members together with their advisers and school head teachers, Division and Regional Supervisors in TLE and different School Principals from private and public schools all over the country.

With its theme “Teen Negosyo University: We’re in Business (How to Go Negosyo)”, six days full of entrepreneurial activities among the delegates were held which pursues to enhance more the entrepreneurial abilities of students and prepare them in continuing their career as businessmen of society in the future.

Moreover, Jeverlyn G. Huerto, School’s YECS Chairwoman, III-Star, together with her group, were recognized to have the “Best Business Idea” under the supervision of Ms. Edna B. Empleo, TLE Department Head Teacher III.

Meanwhile, during the entertainment night, different celebrities surprised the delegates with their timely entertainment performances. Two of those were Christian Bautista, famous singer and Sam Concepcion, present DepEd Youth Spokesperson respectively.

This conference was made possible through the help and cooperation of the Department of Education – Center for Students and Co-Curricular Affairs (DepEd – CSCA), Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE), Office of Presidential Consultant on Entrepreneurship Joey A. Concepcion, Department of Trade and Industry – Philippine Trade Training Center (DTI – PTTC) and The Master Lighthouse Foundation (TMLF).

MNHS-Pob Celebrates Nutrition Month

With its theme “Wastong Nutrisyon Kailangan, Lifestyle Diseases Iwasan”, the T.L.E. department held its annual fest activities, participated by the MNHS – Pob studes, in commemoration to the celebration of Nutrition Month on July.

Contest held on these 4 consecutive weeks are the Nutri-Quiz Bee through the coordination of Mrs. Neptalie del Rosario, Slogan Writing Contest care of Mrs. Solita A. Aporto, Essay Writing Contest coordinated by Mrs. Dina Banzon, Poster-Making Contest by Mrs. Solita Aporto and Cooking Fest by Mrs. Marie Lozano, Mrs. Edith Rivera and Mrs. Jacqueline Limua, respectively.

The students who bagged places were Joylyn M. Serenio – 1st, Erica Lai M. Urge – 2nd, Angela Yanica N. Marzo and Dianne April S. Pangilinan – 3rd in Nutri-Quiz Bee; Benna Grace L. Icalina – 1st, Lovely Joy D. Malanum – 2nd, Anjannette Joy D. Cahilig – 3rd in Slogan Writing Contest; Arjay B. Bacsal – 1st, Nicolo C. Sangalang – 2nd, Arvin U. Palenquez – 3rd in Poster Making Contest; Marianne M. Serrano – 1st, Charmina G. Sejalbo and Kings Lee Magday – 2nd, Juancho D. Amon – 3rd in Essay Writing Contest.

In Cooking Fest Tokwa-Based, winners are Alma T. Medrano and Alexandra Mari M. Tabella – 1st, Hayley Ann A. Banta and Arjay B. Bacsal -2nd, Charmina G. Sejalbo and Adrian N. Flores – 3rd; in Squash-based, Flores and Sejalbo copped the 1st place, Roxanne S. Ortouste and Khay M. Callado – 2nd, Melanie N. Guidayos and James Ryan Resurreccion – 3rd; in Milk-based, Mariah Shaihne Osalvo and Yashie Mae Torreda got the 1st place, Hazel Ann S. Hernandez and Jorimay G. Galindes – 2nd, and, Jeverlyn G. Huerto and Lovely Joy Peligrino – 3rd.
